Quran 2:174~176 (Surah al-Baqarah)

Indeed, those who hide Allah’s revelations, trading them for a fleeting gain consume nothing but fire into their bellies. Allah will neither speak to them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He purify them. And they will suffer a painful punishment. They are the ones who trade guidance for misguidance and forgiveness for punishment. How persistent are they in pursuit of the Fire ! That is because Allah has revealed the Book in truth. And surely those who differ regarding it are totally engrossed in opposition. Quran 2:174~176 Surah al-Baqarah (The Cow)
Al-Baqara, alternatively transliterated Al-Baqarah (Arabic: البقرة, ’al-baqarah; lit. “The Heifer” or “The Cow”), is the second and longest chapter (surah) of the Quran. It consists of 286 verses (āyāt) which begin with the “muqatta’at” A.L.M.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَكۡتُمُونَ مَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ وَیَشۡتَرُونَ بِهِۦ ثَمَنࣰا قَلِیلًا أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ مَا یَأۡكُلُونَ فِی بُطُونِهِمۡ إِلَّا ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا یُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ وَلَا یُزَكِّیهِمۡ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمٌ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱشۡتَرَوُا۟ ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةَ بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَٱلۡعَذَابَ بِٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِۚ فَمَاۤ أَصۡبَرَهُمۡ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ نَزَّلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱخۡتَلَفُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ لَفِی شِقَاقِۭ بَعِیدࣲ
The surah encompasses a variety of topics and contains several commands for Muslims such as enjoining fasting on the believer during the month of Ramadan; forbidding interest or usury (riba); and several famous verses such as The Throne Verse, Al-Baqara 256, and the final two or three verses. The surah addresses a wide variety of topics, including substantial amounts of law, and retells stories of Adam, Ibrahim (Abraham) and Musa (Moses). A major theme is guidance: urging the pagans (Al-Mushrikeen) and the Jews of Medina to embrace Islam, and warning them and the hypocrites (Munafiqun) of the fate God had visited in the past on those who failed to heed his call.
حق یہ ہے کہ جو لوگ اُن احکام کو چھپاتے ہیں جو اللہ نے اپنی کتاب میں ناز ل کیے ہیں اور تھوڑے سے دُنیوی فائدوں پرا نہیں بھینٹ چڑھاتے ہیں، وہ دراصل اپنے پیٹ آگ سے بھر رہے ہیں قیامت کے روز اللہ ہرگز ان سے بات نہ کرے گا، نہ اُنہیں پاکیزہ ٹھیرائے گا، اور اُن کے لیے دردناک سزا ہے یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے ہدایت کے بدلے ضلالت خریدی اور مغفرت کے بدلے عذاب مول لے لیا کیسا عجیب ہے ان کا حوصلہ کہ جہنم کا عذاب برداشت کرنے کے لیے تیار ہیں یہ سب کچھ اس وجہ سے ہوا کہ اللہ نے تو ٹھیک ٹھیک حق کے مطابق کتاب نازل کی تھی مگر جن لوگوں نے کتاب میں اختلاف نکالے وہ اپنے جھگڑوں میں حق سے بہت دور نکل گئے
Sections:
The Book of Guidance for those who want to be righteous. The difference between the believers and the non-believers.
The hypocrites: their sickness, mischief and self-deception.
Mankind, worship Allah alone. Make no partners in Allah’s divinity. The challenge of the Qur’an. This Book will guide many but many will remain in error. The character of those who shall remain in error.
The story of the creation of Adam. Allah’s plan and promise to send His guidance from time to time through His prophets.
Address to Bani Israel to accept this message. Allah’s covenant must be fulfilled.
Warnings to those who stray from the covenant of God. How some from among the Children of Israel turned away from God’s teachings.
God’s blessings on the Children of Israel and their transgressions.
The real recipients of Divine salvation. The hesitation of Bani Israel in sacrificing the cow.
Some perversions of those who were supposed to follow the law of God.
Basic principles of God’s Covenant with the Children of Israel.
Some of them were arrogant to follow the teachings of their prophets, some rejected the prophets or tried to kill them, some worshipped the calf, disobeyed God’s commands and became too greedy for the life of this world.
Opposition and enmity towards the Prophets, following devils and magic.
Reminders to the Believers to follow these examples. Stay firm on your principles. Some among the People of the Book will try to mislead you with false claims and assertions.
The true guidance of Allah is here. Read the Book of Allah and follow it.
The great example of Prophet Ibrahim. He and his son built the Ka’bah and prayed for a Prophet to come.
Prophet Ibrahim –peace be upon him- submitted to Allah and this is the message that he and his sons gave to their progeny.
The change of Qiblah and the response of the hypocrites and fools.
Those who have knowledge know that this is the true Qiblah of all the Prophets.
Follow this direction wherever you are. This is the universal Qiblah for all.
Believers will be tried but they should be firm and steadfast and must face the trials with patience and prayers.
Allah’s signs and His bounties are everywhere. The polytheists and idolaters are misplacing their loyalties.
Believers should eat good and permissible food and should never follow the steps of the devil.
The true piety and righteousness. Some rules related to the punishment of murderers. The rules of bequests.
Fasting and Ramadan: the objective of fasting and some rules.
Rules of Hajj, fighting those who expelled Muslims from their homes.
No fighting during Hajj, rather seek God’s bounty when you return from Hajj.
Appreciate God’s bounties. All human beings were originally one community. Divisions came later. Be generous and defend your self and your faith.
Some important questions answered: War in the sacred months, wine and gambling, charity, orphans’ money, divorced women and their situation.
The laws of divorce
Continuation of the laws of divorce.
Rules on the remarriage of the divorced women or the widowers.
Further rules of divorce
Fighting in the cause of God: Israelites
Under the leadership of Prophet David the victory came over the forces of Goliath.
Emphasis on charity. To Allah belong everything. His Throne extends to heaven and earth. No compulsion in religion. Allah brings out people from darkness unto light.
Allah’s power over life and death, some examples: Prophet Ibrahim’s dialogue with Namrood, a man in the valley of dead (probably Prophet Ezekiel’s vision of Jerusalem), Prophet Ibrahim asks Allah how will He raise the dead to life. Allah’s answer to Prophet Ibrahim.
Allah blesses charity: some examples of how Allah blesses charity
Emphasis on charity: spend good things, give openly and secretly to the poor and needy.
Prohibition of usuary (riba) and its bad effects on individuals and society
Some rules on loan transactions
Conclusion and prayer: Everything in the heaven and earth belong to Allah, the prayer of the believers.

Quran 45:27~29

To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. On the Day the Hour will be established, the people of falsehood will then be in ˹total˺ loss. And you will see every faith-community on its knees. Every community will be summoned to its record ˹of deeds˺. ˹They all will be told,˺ “This Day you will be rewarded for what you used to do. This record of Ours speaks the truth about you. Indeed, We always had your deeds recorded ˹by the angels˺.” Quran 45:27~29 Surah al-Jathiyah (The Kneeling)
The Surah takes its name with the mention of kneeling in the Ayat,
وَتَرَىٰ كُلَّ أُمَّةٍ جَاثِيَةً ۚكُلُّ أُمَّةٍ تُدْعَىٰ إِلَىٰ كِتَابِهَا الْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
“And you will see every nation kneeling [from fear]. Every nation will be called to its record [and told],
“Today you will be recompensed for what you used to do.” (45:28).
There are 37 Ayat in this Surah.

وَلِلَّهِ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَیَوۡمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ یَخۡسَرُ ٱلۡمُبۡطِلُونَ وَتَرَىٰ كُلَّ أُمَّةࣲ جَاثِیَةࣰۚ كُلُّ أُمَّةࣲ تُدۡعَىٰۤ إِلَىٰ كِتَـٰبِهَا ٱلۡیَوۡمَ تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ هَـٰذَا كِتَـٰبُنَا یَنطِقُ عَلَیۡكُم بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَسۡتَنسِخُ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ
The Surah warns those who deny the Divine truth.
It talks about human arrogance and sinfulness.
The judgment of Allah will cover all the people.
The nations will stand before him in the kneeling condition.
اور آسمانوں اور زمین کی بادشاہت خدا ہی کی ہے۔ اور جس روز قیامت برپا ہوگی اس روز اہل باطل خسارے میں پڑ جائیں گے اور تم ہر ایک فرقے کو دیکھو گے کہ گھٹنوں کے بل بیٹھا ہوگا۔ اور ہر ایک جماعت اپنی کتاب (اعمال) کی طرف بلائی جائے گی۔ جو کچھ تم کرتے رہے ہو آج تم کو اس کا بدلہ دیا جائے گا یہ ہماری کتاب تمہارے بارے میں سچ سچ بیان کردے گی۔ جو کچھ تم کیا کرتے تھے ہم لکھواتے جاتے ہیں
Sections:
Allah’s signs are all over in the universe and in our own soul. Those who deny the revelation of God will see punishment of Allah.
Follow the clear path of truth.
Some people have made their desires their god. They also deny the Hereafter.
People will stand before Allah on their knees. Their record of deeds will be presented to them.

Quran 20:42~46

Go forth, you and your brother (Musa & Haroon), with My signs and never falter in remembering Me. Go, both of you, to Pharaoh, for he has truly transgressed ˹all bounds˺. Speak to him gently, so perhaps he may be mindful ˹of Me˺ or fearful ˹of My punishment˺.” They both pleaded, “Our Lord ! We fear that he may be quick to harm us or act tyrannically.” Allah reassured ˹them˺, “Have no fear ! I am with you, hearing and seeing. Quran 20:42~46
Surah TaHa takes its name after the disjointed letters from the first Ayat.
It has 135 ayat.

اِذۡهَبۡ اَنۡتَ وَاَخُوۡكَ بِاٰيٰتِىۡ وَلَا تَنِيَا فِىۡ ذِكۡرِى‌ۚ‏ اِذۡهَبَاۤ اِلٰى فِرۡعَوۡنَ اِنَّهٗ طَغٰى‌ ‌ۖۚ‌‌‌‏ فَقُوۡلَا لَهٗ قَوۡلًا لَّيِّنًا لَّعَلَّهٗ يَتَذَكَّرُ اَوۡ يَخۡشٰى ‏ قَالَا رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّـنَا نَخَافُ اَنۡ يَّفۡرُطَ عَلَيۡنَاۤ اَوۡ اَنۡ يَّطۡغٰى‏ قَالَ لَا تَخَافَآ‌ اِنَّنِىۡ مَعَكُمَاۤ اَسۡمَعُ وَاَرٰى
The subject matter of the Surah is to assure the Prophet and his followers that the message of the Qur’an will eventually succeed. The story of Prophet Moses is mentioned in detail. Then it is mentioned how the enemies of Islam are opposing it and what will be the consequences of this opposition for them.
تو تم اور تمہارا بھائی دونوں ہماری نشانیاں لے کر جاؤ اور میری یاد میں سستی نہ کرنا دونوں فرعون کے پاس جاؤ وہ سرکش ہو رہا ہے اور اس سے نرمی سے بات کرنا شاید وہ غور کرے یا ڈر جائے دونوں کہنے لگے کہ ہمارے پروردگار ہمیں خوف ہے کہ ہم پر تعدی کرنے لگے یا زیادہ سرکش ہوجائے خدا نے فرمایا کہ ڈرو مت میں تمہارے ساتھ ہوں (اور) سنتا اور دیکھتا ہوں
Sections:
Prophet Muhammad is told not to feel distress because of the denial of the unbeleivers. Allah knows everything. Remember the story of Moses. Allah called him to the Prophethood and gave him special signs.
Prophet Moses’ prayer. Allah commanded Moses and his brother Aaron to go to Pharaoh and give him the message. Allah mentions His favors upon Moses.
Prophet Moses goes to Pharaoh. The challenge with the Egyptian magicians. The defeat of the magicians and then their conversion.
Allah saved the Children of Israel from Pharaoh. Prophet Moses goes to Sinai. Samiri misleads the Israelites and they worship the calf.
The anger of Prophet Moses. Samiri confessed his evil action and he was punished.
The Day of Judgment. No intercession will help without Allah’s permission. The opponents of the Prophet.
Devil misleads human beings. Some references to the story of Adam and Iblis.
The evil doers will be punished. Be patient and offer regular prayers.

Quran 41:19~23

˹Consider˺ the Day ˹when˺ the enemies of Allah will be gathered for the Fire, all driven in ranks. When they reach it, their ears, eyes, and skin will testify against what they used to do. They will ask their skin ˹furiously˺, “Why have you testified against us?” It will say, “We have been made to speak by Allah, Who causes all things to speak. He ˹is the One Who˺ created you the first time, and to Him you were bound to return. You did not ˹bother to˺ hide yourselves from your ears, eyes, and skin to prevent them from testifying against you. Rather, you assumed that Allah did not know much of what you used to do. It was that ˹false˺ assumption you entertained about your Lord that has brought about your doom, so you have become losers.” Quran 41:19~23
The Surah is known as ‘Fussilat’ and ‘Haa Meem as-Sajdah’. There are 54 Ayat in this Surah.

وَیَوۡمَ یُحۡشَرُ أَعۡدَاۤءُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ فَهُمۡ یُوزَعُونَ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا مَا جَاۤءُوهَا شَهِدَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ سَمۡعُهُمۡ وَأَبۡصَـٰرُهُمۡ وَجُلُودُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ وَقَالُوا۟ لِجُلُودِهِمۡ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمۡ عَلَیۡنَاۖ قَالُوۤا۟ أَنطَقَنَا ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنطَقَ كُلَّ شَیۡءࣲۚ وَهُوَ خَلَقَكُمۡ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةࣲ وَإِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ وَمَا كُنتُمۡ تَسۡتَتِرُونَ أَن یَشۡهَدَ عَلَیۡكُمۡ سَمۡعُكُمۡ وَلَاۤ أَبۡصَـٰرُكُمۡ وَلَا جُلُودُكُمۡ وَلَـٰكِن ظَنَنتُمۡ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یَعۡلَمُ كَثِیرࣰا مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ وَذَ ٰلِكُمۡ ظَنُّكُمُ ٱلَّذِی ظَنَنتُم بِرَبِّكُمۡ أَرۡدَىٰكُمۡ فَأَصۡبَحۡتُم مِّنَ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِینَ
The subject matter of this Surah is Da’wah. It invites to the truth, gives warnings to those who reject the truth, and tells us that the appeal to the truth is within our nature. It tells us also that the Believers receive strength from Allah’s revelation. The revelation gives life to those who were spiritually and morally dead at one time. The Surah contains both good news and warnings.
اور ذرا اُس وقت کا خیال کرو جب اللہ کے یہ دشمن دوزخ کی طرف جانے کے لیے گھیر لائے جائیں گے اُن کے اگلوں کو پچھلوں کے آنے تک روک رکھا جائے گا پھر جب سب وہاں پہنچ جائیں گے تو ان کے کان اور ان کی آنکھیں اور ان کے جسم کی کھالیں ان پر گواہی دیں گی کہ وہ دنیا میں کیا کچھ کرتے رہے ہیں وہ اپنے جسم کی کھالوں سے کہیں گے "تم نے ہمارے خلاف کیوں گواہی دی؟“ وہ جواب دیں گی "ہمیں اُسی خدا نے گویائی دی ہے جس نے ہر چیز کو گویا کر دیا ہے اُسی نے تم کو پہلی مرتبہ پیدا کیا تھا اور اب اُسی کی طرف تم واپس لائے جا رہے ہو تم دنیا میں جرائم کرتے وقت جب چھپتے تھے تو تمہیں یہ خیال نہ تھا کہ کبھی تمہارے اپنے کان اور تمہاری آنکھیں اور تمہارے جسم کی کھالیں تم پر گواہی دیں گی بلکہ تم نے تو یہ سمجھا تھا کہ تمہارے بہت سے اعمال کی اللہ کو بھی خبر نہیں ہے تمہارا یہی گمان جو تم نے اپنے رب کے ساتھ کیا تھا، تمہیں لے ڈوبا اور اسی کی بدولت تم خسارے میں پڑ گئے"

Invitation to the truth of the Qur’an. The Qur’an is a book that explains everything.
Allah created the heaven and earth. Warnings to those who turn away from Allah.
Those who deny Allah, their own body will witness against them.
The disbelievers’ plan to suppress the message of the Qur’an will fail. Allah gives strength to the Believers.
The best people are those who invite to Allah. The effect of the revelation on the Believers. The signs of Allah.
Allah gives time to people to repent. What good or evil you do is for and against your own selves. The truth will gradually succeed.

Quran 13:31

If there were a recitation that could cause mountains to move, or the earth to split, or the dead to speak, ˹it would have been this Quran˺. But all matters are by Allah’s Will. Have the believers not yet realized that had Allah willed, He could have guided all of humanity? And disasters will continue to afflict the disbelievers or strike close to their homes for their misdeeds, until Allah’s promise comes to pass. Surely Allah never fails in His promise. Quran 13:31
The word ar-Ra’d (thunder), which this Surah is named after, is used in the 13th Surah of the Qur’an, in the 13th Juzz and is the 13th Ayat.
This Surah has 43 Ayaat.

وَلَوۡ اَنَّ قُرۡاٰنًا سُيِّرَتۡ بِهِ الۡجِبَالُ اَوۡ قُطِّعَتۡ بِهِ الۡاَرۡضُ اَوۡ كُلِّمَ بِهِ الۡمَوۡتٰى‌ ؕ بَلْ لِّلّٰهِ الۡاَمۡرُ جَمِيۡعًا ‌ؕ اَفَلَمۡ يَايۡــَٔسِ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اَنۡ لَّوۡ يَشَآءُ اللّٰهُ لَهَدَى النَّاسَ جَمِيۡعًا ؕ وَلَا يَزَالُ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا تُصِيۡبُهُمۡ بِمَا صَنَعُوۡا قَارِعَةٌ اَوۡ تَحُلُّ قَرِيۡبًا مِّنۡ دَارِهِمۡ حَتّٰى يَاۡتِىَ وَعۡدُ اللّٰهِ‌ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُخۡلِفُ الۡمِيۡعَادَ‏
The basic theme of the Surah is divine guidance.
Allah has created this whole universe.
He knows what is in the wombs and every thing is under His knowledge.
He sent His prophets and guides to all people for their guidance
and now the Last Messenger has come.
اور اگر کوئی قرآن ایسا ہوتا کہ اس (کی تاثیر) سے پہاڑ چل پڑتے یا زمین پھٹ جاتی یا مردوں سے کلام کرسکتے۔ (تو یہی قرآن ان اوصاف سے متصف ہوتا مگر) بات یہ ہے کہ سب باتیں خدا کے اختیار میں ہیں تو کیا مومنوں کو اس سے اطمینان نہیں ہوا کہ اگر خدا چاہتا تو سب لوگوں کو ہدایت کے رستے پر چلا دیتا۔ اور کافروں پر ہمیشہ ان کے اعمال کے بدلے بلا آتی رہے گی یا ان کے مکانات کے قریب نازل ہوتی رہے گی یہاں تک کہ خدا کا وعدہ آپہنچے۔ بےشک خدا وعدہ خلاف نہیں کرتا
Sections:
Allah’s signs in nature.
Allah knows everything; the whole universe praises Him. Those who have eyes can see the truth. The truth has an abiding power.
The faithful and unfaithful, their characters and their ends.
The comfort of the hearts is in the remembrance of Allah. Those who deny Allah, no signs or miracles can help them.
People in the past also denied Allah’s Prophets and laughed at them, but what were their ends.
Prophet Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. The witness is Allah and all those who have the knowledge of the Scriptures of Allah.

Quran 3:77

Indeed, those who trade Allah’s covenant and their oaths for a fleeting gain will have no share in the Hereafter. Allah will neither speak to them, nor look at them, nor purify them on the Day of Judgment. And they will suffer a painful punishment. Quran 3:77
Al Imran (Arabic: آل عمران, āl ʿimrān; meaning: The Family of Imran) is the third chapter (sūrah) of the Quran with two hundred verses (āyāt).

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَشۡتَرُونَ بِعَهۡدِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَیۡمَـٰنِهِمۡ ثَمَنࣰا قَلِیلًا أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَا خَلَـٰقَ لَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرَةِ وَلَا یُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا یَنظُرُ إِلَیۡهِمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ وَلَا یُزَكِّیهِمۡ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیم
It is named after Ale-Imran ‘the family of Imran’ – Imran being the grandfather of Jesus [Isa], and the father of Mary [Maryam]. Other than this Surah, Imran is not mentioned in the rest of the Qur’an with the exception of Surah 66: at-Tahreem – ‘Maryam daughter of Imran’ [66:12].
Zahra – The Prophet is reported to have called al-Baqarah and Ale-Imran as ‘Zahrawayn’ [Two Lights (of guidance)]
جو لوگ خدا کے اقراروں اور اپنی قسموں (کو بیچ ڈالتے ہیں اور ان) کے عوض تھوڑی سی قیمت حاصل کرتے ہیں ان کا آخرت میں کچھ حصہ نہیں ان سے خدا نہ تو کلام کرے گا اور نہ قیامت کے روز ان کی طرف دیکھے گا اور نہ ان کو پاک کرے گا اور ان کو دکھ دینے والا عذاب ہوگا
The main topics of this Surah are Tawhid, Prophethood and the truth of the Qur’ an. As Surah al-Baqarah discussed the issues related to Bani Israel, this Surah discusses some issues related to the Christian community and their religious positions. It also discusses the subjects of Hajj, Jihad, Zakat and Riba. It ends, like Surah al-Baqarah, with a profound dua.
