Quran 46:15 [Supplication at 40 years’ of age]

We have commanded people to honour their parents. Their mothers bore them in hardship and delivered them in hardship. Their ˹period of˺ bearing and weaning is thirty months. In time, when the child reaches their prime at the age of forty, they pray, “My Lord! Inspire me to ˹always˺ be thankful for Your favours which You blessed me and my parents with, and to do good deeds that please You. And instil righteousness in my offspring. I truly repent to You, and I truly submit ˹ to Your Will˺.” Quran 46:15 [Supplication at 40 years of age] Surah al-Ahqaf (The Wind-curved Sandhills)
The Surah takes its name from the Ayat, وَاذْكُرْ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذْ أَنذَرَ قَوْمَهُ بِالْأَحْقَافِ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ النُّذُرُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّـهَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ “And mention, [O Muhammad], the brother of ‘Aad, when he warned his people in the [region of] al-Ahqaf – and warners had already passed on before him and after him – [saying], “Do not worship except Allah. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day.” (46:21). There are 35 Ayat in this Surah.

وَوَصَّیۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ بِوَ ٰلِدَیۡهِ إِحۡسَـٰنًاۖ حَمَلَتۡهُ أُمُّهُۥ كُرۡهࣰا وَوَضَعَتۡهُ كُرۡهࣰاۖ وَحَمۡلُهُۥ وَفِصَـٰلُهُۥ ثَلَـٰثُونَ شَهۡرًاۚ حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥ وَبَلَغَ أَرۡبَعِینَ سَنَةࣰ قَالَ رَبِّ أَوۡزِعۡنِیۤ أَنۡ أَشۡكُرَ نِعۡمَتَكَ ٱلَّتِیۤ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَیَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَ ٰلِدَیَّ وَأَنۡ أَعۡمَلَ صَـٰلِحࣰا تَرۡضَىٰهُ وَأَصۡلِحۡ لِی فِی ذُرِّیَّتِیۤۖ إِنِّی تُبۡتُ إِلَیۡكَ وَإِنِّی مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ
The Surah gives warnings to those who deny the truth.
When Allah’s punishment comes then neither the sea, nor the dry land can protect.
There is a reference in this Surah to the people of ‘Ad and Allah’s punishment for their sins.
اور ہم نے انسان کو اپنے والدین کے ساتھ بھلائی کرنے کا حکم دیا۔ اس کی ماں نے اس کو تکلیف سے پیٹ میں رکھا اور تکلیف ہی سے جنا۔ اور اس کا پیٹ میں رہنا اور دودھ چھوڑنا ڈھائی برس میں ہوتا ہے۔ یہاں تک کہ جب خوب جوان ہوتا ہے اور چالیس برس کو پہنچ جاتا ہے تو کہتا ہے کہ اے میرے پروردگار مجھے توفیق دے کہ تو نے جو احسان مجھ پر اور میرے ماں باپ پر کئے ہیں ان کا شکر گزار ہوں اور یہ کہ نیک عمل کروں جن کو تو پسند کرے۔ اور میرے لئے میری اولاد میں صلاح (وتقویٰ) دے۔ میں تیری طرف رجوع کرتا ہوں اور میں فرمانبرداروں میں ہوں

Quran 46:13~14

Surely those who say, “Our Lord is Allah,” and then remain steadfast— there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve. It is they who will be the residents of Paradise, staying there forever, as a reward for what they used to do. Quran 46:13~14 Surah al-Ahqaf (The Wind-curved Sandhills)

Quran 46:10~12

Ask ˹them, O Prophet˺, “Consider if this ˹Quran˺ is ˹truly˺ from Allah and you deny it, and a witness from the Children of Israel attests to it and then believes, whereas you act arrogantly. Surely Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.” The disbelievers say of the believers, “Had it been ˹something˺ good, they would not have beaten us to it.” Now since they reject its guidance, they will say, “˹This is˺ an ancient fabrication!” And before this ˹Quran˺ the Book of Moses was ˹revealed as˺ a guide and mercy. And this Book is a confirmation, in the Arabic tongue, to warn those who do wrong, and as good news to those who do good. Quran 46:10~12 Surah al-Ahqaf (The Wind-curved Sandhills)

اے نبیؐ، ان سے کہو "کبھی تم نے سوچا بھی کہ اگر یہ کلام اللہ ہی کی طرف سے ہوا اور تم نے اِس کا انکار کر دیا (تو تمہارا کیا انجام ہوگا)؟ اور اِس جیسے ایک کلام پر تو بنی اسرائیل کا ایک گواہ شہادت بھی دے چکا ہے وہ ایمان لے آیا اور تم اپنے گھمنڈ میں پڑے رہے ایسے ظالموں کو اللہ ہدایت نہیں دیا کرتا" جن لوگوں نے ماننے سے انکار کر دیا ہے وہ ایمان لانے والوں کے متعلق کہتے ہیں کہ اگر اس کتاب کو مان لینا کوئی اچھا کام ہوتا تو یہ لوگ اس معاملے میں ہم سے سبقت نہ لے جا سکتے تھے چونکہ اِنہوں نے اُس سے ہدایت نہ پائی اس لیے اب یہ ضرور کہیں گے کہ یہ تو پرانا جھوٹ ہے حالانکہ اِس سے پہلے موسیٰؑ کی کتاب رہنما اور رحمت بن کر آ چکی ہے، اور یہ کتاب اُس کی تصدیق کرنے والی زبان عربی میں آئی ہے تاکہ ظالموں کو متنبہ کر دے اور نیک روش اختیار کرنے والوں کو بشارت دے دے

Quran 46:7~9

Whenever Our clear revelations are recited to them, the disbelievers say of the truth when it has come to them, “This is pure magic.” Or do they say, “He has fabricated this ˹Quran˺!”? Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “ If I have done so, then there is nothing whatsoever you can do to save me from Allah. He knows best what ˹slurs˺ you indulge about it. Sufficient is He as a Witness between you and me. And He is the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” Say, “I am not the first messenger ever sent, nor do I know what will happen to me or you. I only follow what is revealed to me. And I am only sent with a clear warning.” Quran 46:7~9 Surah al-Ahqaf (The Wind-curved Sandhills)

اِن لوگوں کو جب ہماری صاف صاف آیات سنائی جاتی ہیں اور حق اِن کے سامنے آ جاتا ہے تو یہ کافر لوگ اُس کے متعلق کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو کھلا جادو ہے کیا اُن کا کہنا یہ ہے کہ رسول نے اِسے خود گھڑ لیا ہے؟ ان سے کہو، "اگر میں نے اِسے خود گھڑ لیا ہے تو تم مجھے خدا کی پکڑ سے کچھ بھی نہ بچا سکو گے، جو باتیں تم بناتے ہو اللہ ان کو خوب جانتا ہے، میرے اور تمہارے درمیان وہی گواہی دینے کے لیے کافی ہے، اور وہ بڑا درگزر کرنے والا اور رحیم ہے" اِن سے کہو، "میں کوئی نرالا رسول تو نہیں ہوں، میں نہیں جانتا کہ کل تمہارے ساتھ کیا ہونا ہے اور میرے ساتھ کیا، میں تو صرف اُس وحی کی پیروی کرتا ہوں جو میرے پاس بھیجی جاتی ہے اور میں ایک صاف صاف خبردار کر دینے والے کے سوا اور کچھ نہیں ہوں"

Quran 46:4~6

Ask ˹them, O Prophet˺, “Have you considered whatever ˹idols˺ you invoke besides Allah? Show me what they have created on earth! Or do they have a share in ˹the creation of˺ the heavens? Bring me a scripture ˹revealed˺ before this ˹Quran˺ or a shred of knowledge, if what you say is true.” And who could be more astray than those who call upon others besides Allah— ˹others˺ that cannot respond to them until the Day of Judgment, and are ˹even˺ unaware of their calls? And when ˹such˺ people will be gathered together, those ˹gods˺ will be their enemies and will disown their worship. Quran 46:4~6 Surah al-Ahqaf (The Wind-curved Sandhills)

اے نبیؐ، اِن سے کہو، "کبھی تم نے آنکھیں کھول کر دیکھا بھی کہ وہ ہستیاں ہیں کیا جنہیں تم خدا کو چھوڑ کر پکارتے ہو؟ ذرا مجھے دکھاؤ تو سہی کہ زمین میں انہوں نے کیا پیدا کیا ہے، یا آسمانوں کی تخلیق و تدبیر میں ان کا کیا حصہ ہے اِس سے پہلے آئی ہوئی کتاب یا علم کا کوئی بقیہ (اِن عقائد کے ثبوت میں) تمہارے پاس ہو تو وہی لے آؤ اگر تم سچے ہو" آخر اُس شخص سے زیادہ بہکا ہوا انسان اور کون ہو گا جو اللہ کو چھوڑ کر اُن کو پکارے جو قیامت تک اسے جواب نہیں دے سکتے بلکہ اِس سے بھی بے خبر ہیں کہ پکارنے والے اُن کو پکار رہے ہیں اور جب تمام انسان جمع کیے جائیں گے اُس وقت وہ اپنے پکارنے والوں کے دشمن اور ان کی عبادت کے منکر ہوں گے

The revelation of this Book is from Allah— the Almighty, All-Wise. We only created the heavens and the earth and everything in between for a purpose and an appointed term. Yet the disbelievers are turning away from what they have been warned about.
