It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: A man come to the Prophet(ﷺ) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what supplication is best?’ He (ﷺ) said: 'Ask your Lord for forgiveness and to be kept safe and sound in this world and in the Hereafter.’ Then (the man) came the next day and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what supplication is best?’ He (ﷺ) said: 'Ask your Lord for forgiveness and to be kept safe and sound in this world and in the Hereafter.’ Then (the man) came the third day and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, what supplication is best?’ He (ﷺ) said: 'Ask your Lord for forgiveness and to be kept safe and sound in this world and in the Hereafter, for if you are forgiven and kept safe and sound in this world and the Hereafter, you will have succeeded.’ Hadees: Ibn-e-Majah 3848Chapter on Supplications

حَدَّثَنَا, عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ , قَالَ :

أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ , فَقَالَ :
يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , أَيُّ الدُّعَاءِ أَفْضَلُ ؟

قَالَ :
" سَلْ رَبَّكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ " ,

ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ فِي الْيَوْمِ الثَّانِي , فَقَالَ :
يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , أَيُّ الدُّعَاءِ أَفْضَلُ ؟

قَالَ :
" سَلْ رَبَّكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ " ,

ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ فِي الْيَوْمِ الثَّالِثِ , فَقَالَ :
يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ , أَيُّ الدُّعَاءِ أَفْضَلُ ؟

قَالَ :
" سَلْ رَبَّكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ,
فَإِذَا أُعْطِيتَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ
فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ , فَقَدْ أَفْلَحْتَ " .

´انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ`
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس
ایک شخص آیا اور کہنے لگا:
اللہ کے رسول!
کون سی دعا سب سے بہتر ہے؟
آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:
”تم اللہ سے دنیا اور آخرت میں
عفو اور عافیت کا سوال کیا کرو“،
پھر وہ شخص دوسرے دن حاضر خدمت ہوا
اور عرض کیا:
اللہ کے رسول!
کون سی دعا سب سے بہتر ہے؟
آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:
”تم اپنے رب سے دنیا و آخرت میں
عفو اور عافیت کا سوال کیا کرو“،
پھر وہ تیسرے دن بھی حاضر خدمت ہوا،
اور عرض کیا:
اللہ کے نبی!
کون سی دعا سب سے بہتر ہے؟
آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:
”تم اپنے رب سے دنیا و آخرت میں
عفو و عافیت کا سوال کیا کرو،
کیونکہ جب تمہیں دنیا اور آخرت میں
عفو اور عافیت عطا ہو گئی
تو تم کامیاب ہو گئے“
